Equal Rights for Men and Women in the Family
The Human Rights Act assigns equal rights and obligations for both the man and the woman in marriage, during marriage and upon dissolution of marriage. However, in many countries, women do not have a position equal to that of men, neither in marriage or family life. The laws and customs that govern the status of women in the family often limit their role as both legal capacity. Women’s position is determined in relation to male family members and may affect their rights, for example, the right to inherit family property. In some countries, the rights of women, such as nationality and citizenship, are impeded or denied by law in several respects at the time of the marriage.
